Meet Veronica

Hi, I’m Veronica!

I'm a preschool teacher, dog lover, and I have type 1 diabetes. Many years ago, I was diagnosed with Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) that eventually progressed to a complication called Diabetic Macular Edema (DME). I had no idea that DR could turn into DME, especially without regular treatment. I wish I'd known more back then, which is why I hope my story helps you understand how DR progresses to DME and why seeing your retina specialist regularly and continuing treatment is important. It's hard living life with my vision changes, but I'm back on the right track now with my treatment. I've learned a lot, and I hope you will too!
